Digital Camera Pics = A Big Zero

so, we went for a long walk around the lake on sunday. and i even dragged my cell phone (with camera) and digital camera with me. and as we were walking along with the dog, a big red truck pulled up and parked next to us. we were surprised to see our friends mike & carrie. we talked to them for about 20 minutes before they had to continue on their way. and did i take a picture of them to post on my blog or scrap? nope. did i take any pictures of the dog frolicking on the grass? nope. any pictures of the overcast lake? nope. i must just not be in that frame of mind where pictures are out there for me. taking my camera along has become an accepted way of life for me. but i don't use it often enough. oh well. i must strive to take more pics. this is a page i scrapped of our house. it rates a 9 out of 10 on my scale.

Glued!

Just a little while ago, I decided that I just had to glue something...and I'm not going to tell you what, because then I will look like a dumb blonde... OK! OK! My fake plastic french manicure toenail had to be re-glued onto a toe. It had fallen off the other day, and it looked dumb without one on it. All my other toes were real pretty, so it was calling out to me...Bob, Bob, make me pretty! I know. I know. Vanity...thy name is Woman! But...I was BORN with ugly toenails and fingernails. (that's my excuse & reasoning- don't criticize) Thank goodness for acrylics! So now I can go to the beach or wear sandals in public and not have hideous looking toes! I swear to God, there were little kids that used to run from me in terror when they saw my toenails. So to get back to my story (long-winded, ain't I? but, just trying to set up the "mood" of the narrative) I had picked up the Krazy Glue...(here it comes...wait for it...) Krazy Glue, and tipped it upside down to squirt JUST a LITTLE out onto my tiny toe. And the dispenser explodes. Yeah. Right. You guessed it. Krazy glue all over. Oh no. Hubby's gonna be POd. All over my clothes, all over my...whoops! All over my HANDS! All over EVERYTHING! The next thing I knew, my pants are Krazy glued to my legs. My shirt is Krazy glued to my boobs. My shoe is Krazy glued to the toilet seat. My other foot Krazy glued to the floor. All my fingers of both hands are Krazy glued to each other. My toes on my left foot are Krazy Glued to each other AND the shoe. My hand is Krazy glued to the toe still holding the fake nail, my other hand is hardening up but still unrestrained! Oh gosh. What do I do? I'M STUCK! And then I gotta pee! Cuz of course, what do you have to do when you are in the bathroom???? So, then I start to see the dumb/funny side of it and start giggling. But when you start giggling, you start laughing, and tears are running out of my eyes, and I reach up to rub away the tears, and my other hand drenched in Krazy glue gets securely stuck to my cheek! The dog wakes up, drags herself off her bed, and walks into the bathroom to see what is going on. oh no. OH NO, Isabelle, Stop! Now the DOG walks into the Krazy glue on the FLOOR! The dog is stuck and starts whining, I'm giggling more, and peeing myself! And you know what? During all of this...I was irritated that there was nobody around to take a picture of this...so I could scrap it.

World's Greatest Videos

I just adore watching IMF, World's Greatest Videos. They have some of the best (ROFL) artists and give you exposure to them. One never could have thought that so many people could view artists from different countries on a medium like this. Prior to this it has always been major countries releasing (or coming to the US) as if we were the only country in the world, duh, not! Most of us are just regular people who eat, sleep, go to work, and go home to families. We are nothing special here in the US. I have heard so many different bands from so many different countries and so much diverse talent. It is such a break listening to something extremely different instead of the same old, same old. I love listening the the Latin Bridge. They have a lot of great talent there, too. Last night I heard Christina Sturmer and Band sing Engel Fliegen Einsam which roughly translates to Angels Flying Alone. It is a hauntingly beautiful song. The video appears to be shot in a huge hothouse with massive plants. Scribbles, doodles and intricate angel wings are "drawn" by computer graphics as the singer/band walks around. It is awesome. Go out and try to buy this CD. I am going to get it today! Using silver papers from a different kit, I have scrapped the following. Greg and friends thought it was great. This is from the kit Love N Roses by Janette Padley which can be purchased at www.thedailyscrap.com The frame was done in pink and gives it that romantic feeling. This picture is just one of us I took as the hubby had just gotten home from work and was clocking out on his company computer at home. He is home dispatched, and does at least 1 hour of computerwork in the morning and 1 hour at night in addition to his 8-10 hour days. Isabelle eating weiner winks as we speak. They're not just for breakfast, ya know!

Catching Up

Quick Notes to cover what has happened in the past few days. Sat. Feb 18-Greg finally woke me up about noon; I had another sore throat and fever. Seems I will just have to resign myself to being sick permanently. It was bitterly cold outside, so Greg decided against going to the shop to work today; it would never have heated up enough to work comfortably. So he spent the day at home alternately on the computer, taking care of me, and watching tv. I finally felt better late that night. Kelsey's t-shirts came today. Sun. Feb 19-Drove into A-town to get morning lattes with Greg & Isabele; IM'd with Kelsey this morning; Scrapped on the computer a little, then Greg watched the Daytona 500. I started working on taxes. Horrible, I know...but it HAS to be done. Robert returned the trailer to Greg this afternoon. We walked Isabelle tonight and she took off into the woods frantically digging at something. It took forever b4 she decided to join us again. Made a list of things to do. WACOM is for Greg so he can hand draw his designs on the CAD program I purchased him for Christmas. I want to talk to Ty about Adobe Photoshop software. Still need to update our Internet site, www.rockymtnoffrd.com. Reminded Greg that he has to write another article for the site. Just another boring life.

Romantic Getaway Weekend

Greg reserved a suite for us at The Davenport. Valet service to park our vehicle; Isabelle was able to come along and created quite a stir walking through the Lobby. We checked in and went up to our Suite 1406 on the private 14th floor. Access via elevator with card key only. Champagne & long stem roses in our room upon arrival. Our room was quite expansive-500 square feet. We rested for a while, then changed to formal clothes for dinner at The Palm Court at 6:30 I ordered filet & lobster; Greg had crab cakes. After dinner, we walked around the hotel observing all the vintage memorabilia; stopped for a quick drink in the "Peacock Room"; then retired to our room to change into jeans & walking shoes. Walked Isabelle to the city park about 8 blocks away all the while observing the city on foot when as we have not had a chance to do that from a vehicle. Returned to our room about 11:00 where Greg passed out with a fever from the rich food consumed that night. No hanky-panky for V-Day for me. Boo Hoo. Upon our return from the walk to the park with the dog, our room had been cleaned and the bed turned down into a "heart" fold with the blankets. Rose petals were scattered on the bed creating a very attractive romantic atmosphere. There were mints and candy on the side table, along with a pot of fresh, hot coffee. With my husband passed out on the bed...alternately moaning and groaning, I proceeded to fill the European spa tub and scattered the rose petals upon the water. Dousing the lights, I took my own "romantic spa bath"; I did, however, manage to give him cold compress clothes to relieve his illness. The bed was VERY comfortable and we had a good night's rest. In the morning we had Starbucks lattes by the lobby fireplace in a comfortable setting while munching on bagels & muffins. Shopped at the famous candy store then checked out.

Baby Announcement

I wish that I had been able to have my child at this point in time; as mothers of today have a lot of advantages which were not available 20 years ago. Cell phones were non-existent. ...Now families and friends can be informed that the birth of the baby is imminent while the expectant parents are in the car on the way to the hospital. Ultra-sounds were only given with insurance company prior approval for high-risk pregnancies. ...Now many women have ultra-sounds every other month. The pictures are clearer; and there is even a video tape of the ultra sound they may have. It was a total surprise until the birth what sex of child you would have…boy or girl. …Parents can now ascertain the sex of the child, and give the child a name prior to birth. Then, plastic bags came in sandwich size or gallon size. ...Now, for convenience, plastic bags which are re-sealable come in many sizes. If a mother has a smaller sandwich, or one cookie, a bag can be used that is suitable. Many bags come decorated. Diapers were sold in boxes of about 3 feet by 3 feet square. ...the same amount of diapers at present is compressed into a space of a small shoebox or less. Birth announcements were picked up at the local card store and sent out by US Postal Mail; which took anywhere from a week to 10 days to arrive. ...Now, birth announcements such as the beautiful, custom work of art (see above) are the norm, sent out by email which can reach the recipient in seconds. Pictures were taken with a 210 camera. Resolution & quality were poor. Film and separately purchased flashes were costly. Flashes oftentimes did not work. After completing all 12 or 24 pictures, the film (if not exposed when removing from the camera) was taken to the local retail store to be developed at their lab. If the film and pictures were not lost, you would receive the pictures back within 2 weeks. By that time, you had forgotten what the pictures were that you had taken. That is if you remembered to take the film in to the store at all... ...All pictures can be captured on a minute digital card which can store up to 500 or more pictures, batteries are smaller than 1 inch and can be re-charged; and automated flash is built in to the digital camera. Video is built into the small 3 to 4-inch camera and an ability to "freeze" a frame of the video is a choice. You were finally able to view your pictures, but if the picture was out of focus, or someone had accidentally taken a picture of the bottom half of the person, or caught a stray thumb...there was no do-over, no retakes. Good gosh, the event was already 2 weeks past. ...Now there are digital cameras, with extremely high quality/high resolution. The ability to review the picture immediately, retake the picture from different angles, and alter the camera settings is all available. Computers did not exist to the general public. There was no world coverage public Internet available. ...Now pictures can be immediately downloaded to a computer wherein you can fax, email, or IM the picture anywhere, to anyone. The only ability to save a picture was in a photo album or on the negative, which were often thrown away or, if retained, rotted with age and exposure ...Now there is an ability to save the pictures to a computer, CD, or other media. Red eye, facial disfigurations, and other misc "junk" within a picture were tolerated. There was no way for the average person to fix these problems. ...At present, the ability to alter a picture in any way you wish is available via computer digital programs. So, since I was unable to "announce" my child's birth at the time. I am taking the opportunity to do it now in this beautiful way for my beautiful baby!

Natural Designs Forum Poll

Are the "professionals" of digital scrapbooking no bigger than a "professional" marble player? I had to answer...and tended to ramble. I also sound like an obsessed teeny-bopper with a boy-band! Ugh.
Marble playing????? ACK! My analogy to MY husband was...since he is into automotives.... like CHIP FOOS of Overhaulin' coming to him and telling him "Nice car you built there, Greg". Chip Foos builds moving, driving, "Works Of Art" which will be around (hopefully) for years. We, essentially, are doing the same thing...building "Works Of Art" which will be around for years. Or for a different aspect...Jesse James of Monster Garage. Just "chatting" on the phone with my husband, "oh, Greg, how are you tonight?" Because EVERYBODY knows Jesse James for the motorcycle designing GOD that he is with custom manufacturing! That is what I feel like when I get on-line to the Chatroom Monday nights to talk with everybody there. Dani, (designbydani); Kristie (shabbyprincess), Anita & Theresa (natural designs); Susan (kitchen) Jasmine (jasBeanie); Brianna (atomic cupcake). They know my name. They TALK to me. I am one of the minor groupies to these Scrap Superstars. There is an amazing amount of overwhelming talent there that surrounds me like a warm blanket. If I can just be lucky enough, perhaps some of their talent will rub off onto me! I am so god-awful LUCKY to have stumbled into an invitation to join these people on Monday nights. When I first visited, I was SO scared just to be IN a chatroom, and then when I later started to "investigate" who these people were. OMG. I almost peed my pants. It took a lot of courage for me to go back the following monday nite. KRISTIE knows my name and has spoken to me on the chat room. I feel like I have (indirectly) met Picasso~ I Love, Adore, Drool over her innovative stuff. SHAWNA-Ahhhh. She has more talent in her little finger than I do in my big butt! ANITA~Up until I met her & saw her stuff, I thought the best Australian thing was Mad Max! DANI...Ack. She is a designing goddess! A myth! Like Hera, come down from Mount Olympus to influence us as mere mortals...but I digress.... Sports? No. Doesn't count. Marble Playing? No. They do not create anything. But we do. We create living, breathing works of art meant to be dug up in later centuries and marvelled upon by archaeologists not yet born!

Some-what Normal?

Today is the first time in days that I have actually felt more normal. No coughing, slept through the night, woke up early, aches & pains are missing. We have a remote home on 20 acres. The husband's shop is 1/8 mile down from the house. We have a driveway alarm at the gate, so I am AWARE when there is somebody driving into or onto the property. Have had semi trucks with trailers turn around in our driveway. The other day, a car full of people from a neighboring state pulled ALL the way in the driveway and up to the shop...parked QUITE a long time because it took me a while to get down there, and then the BIMBO was on her cell-phone to get directions? I blocked the entracnce and yelled at them as she tried quickly to pull out. She ALMOST backed into me...I had to honk the horn as she didn't even look in her rear-view mirror~! CAN'T THEY READ...NO TRESPASSING! We have 4 frigging signs on the entrance gates & more by the tree at the shop; all CLEARLY visible. Idiots. She said she was told on the phone she was at the wrong place. SO? What the heck do I care? Do it somewhere else...not on MY property. But..had ANOTHER trespasser on our property early this morning. Electric company sub-contractor in an UN-MARKED vehicle drove on the property, but did not come to the house. I drove down to the shop with the gun, cell-phone and dog. (She does look menancing even though she is deathly frightened of strangers) Asked him if he could read the signs. He had a crappy attitude..."we have right to access 24 hours a day." told me he was 'replacing' the meter at the shop, and then would come to the house and do the same. TOLD him to let somebody know he is here, otherwise, next time...bang bang. I AM A SOLITARY woman here during the day. Anything could happen. Do these people not REALIZE THAT? Idiots. We have had thefts, rapes, murders, kidnappings, and torture around here. I am only protecting myself and my property. DUH...Why do I have to be nice? Why do I have to put up with them? I DON'T! Well, I came down to the house and called the electric co-op to actually verify he WAS supposed to be here. Told the woman that we should have been informed since he was not in a "official" company vehicle and had offered no ID. DUH. HAVE THEY NEVER HEARD OF TERRORISM? duh. Would it have KILLED him to come to the house and notify somebody that he was here? NO. NO, instead he has to get this pissy attitude when he is trespassing on MY property. I don't know who the heck he is...HE is a STRANGER. He could even have fake ID. Maybe he is sabotaging my electric meter... But the woman got an attitude right away. "If you are making a threat, we will have to get security involved". Told her I was NOT making a threat, just that he had not provided ID, he was driving a private vehicle, and he had not informed anybody he was here. THAT is trespassing. AND I can SHOOT him if I so desire. Would it not have made better sense on their part to call in advance, as a COURTESY? To be a LITTLE diplomatic to profer a better image of their company to the customer? What ever happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE?(they have our f-ing phone number because the woman related it to me before I could tell her). The woman I talked with said it was "normal maintenance" EXCUSE ME? When is it NORMAL to go out and REPLACE a METER? Any WHY are they having the meter reader do it????? Also, he lied to me and said he would be up to the house to replace the meter at the house, but he left a short while after my phone call to the co-op...? Wonder if the service rep told him to leave? This is SO bizarre. I am writing a letter of complaint. They are not under the purveyance of the Public Utilities Commission for the State as I have tried in the past to complain to the PUC because they are a "PRIVATE" entity? EXCUSE ME? ISN'T that the type of company that SHOULD be under their regulation? Small water communities are? Why isn't this Public Co-Op fall under their regulation? Told the hubby today that he is installing our gates TODAY! No more ANYBODY coming onto the property for any reason. We will put gigantic rocks on either side of the gates in the spring to block anybody that wants to drive around. No fence as we have not found a fence we can agree upon. This is a page I scrapped today. It is an example of "cutout" as the picture extends beyond the frame. Kinda cute, but I GOTTA quit with the black. I looked over the pages I have done lately. About 3 of them are black! I re-read this and it sounded somewhat as if I was in a bad mood. I'm not. Other than people tromping around the property, I am having a great day! Already baked weiner winks this morning for Isabelle & Greg. Will go to get the mail in a litle while, and then maybe do some paper scrapping.

Valentine's Day Birthday Presents

Worked on scrapping yesterday. IM'd to Matt yesterday, which was unusual as I almost never get to talk to him. Then, UPS and FED Ex dropped off stuff for Greg. Dean came to fix the fireplace-the thermo-coupler was bad again. Isabelle was SO terrified of Dean, that when he walked up the back stairs on the deck, she jumped off the other end. Thankfully, there was about 3 feet of snow there that she landed in, but she was nuts. Barking at him violently. People think she is massively big and vicious. She is just a big barking lunatic! Picked up a couple rear ends for Greg last night from Chad in Hayden; briefly met and talked with his wife, Amy who seemed kinda nice. Greg related that she is a nurse and makes big bucks and really seems to enjoy her job. Wow. Imagine that - job satisfaction. Wish I could ever have found that. Then went to Costco, Safeway, Hastings, Borders, and Office Max.At Office Max, I turned in 8 printer cartridges and will donate the free reams of paper to Kelsey's high school - Timberlake. Also found Magnetic Paper there, and when I got home, printed my scrapbook pages on it. They are about 3"x3"; most of them are still easily decipherable. They look adorable on the fridge. Now we have the pleasure of seeing this work everyday. Greg enjoys seeing them there. See Pic. Hastings & Borders have NO digital scrapbooking books. Imagine that. A bookstore with no books in it. Borders said they could "special order" it into the store and have it within 7-10 days. Told them I could order in on Amazon and have it within 3-5 days! I am sending Kelsey some of my paper scrapping stuff for her birthday, since I don't do it much anymore. I have a few things I need to put together now, tho, for paper scrap pages. The paper and embellishments are sitting out on the bar in the kitchen and will stay there until I have the motivation to create. Also warned Greg that I have some BeautifuL Valentine's Day paper, so I had BETTER have some good pics to scrap for that! haha. Got a lot of cute things for Kelsey last night. Costco had a butt-load of colored paper for scrapbooking - 320 sheets with color on both sides! And more scrapbook albums..found black ones this time instead of the gosh-awful yellow and Easter egg pink; Almost forgot! At Costco, we purchased the pink PLAYTEX TAMPONS in the mega-size 88 for Kelsey's annual birthday/christmas gift! This is family TRADITION that we started quite a few years ago. I had run out of presents for her, so got her those and wrapped them one Christmas. She complained that it wasn't an "official" Xmas present, but it turned into a tradition. She attempted to explain it to her husband, Matt; but he just didn't understand. Suppose you have to be there at the beginning. When I was IMing Matt yesterday, I reminded him about the morning cupcake/candle/happy birthday singing he has to do on her birthday. He TOLD me he had it under control. Whatever that means! Well, to get back to my Tampon subject. This one is special because it has a bonus small pack of another 12. So Kelsey gets 88 + 12 = 100 if my math is accurate, and you realize that I am not that good with numbers! Safeway had a cute pink and white lollipop; also red M&M chocolate candies with romantic sayings...Trust Me...I Dig U...U & Me...Falling 4 U...My Princess...True Love...Hi Gorgeous...U R A 10. How cute! All these were just asking to be purchased for Kelsey's b-day. I absolutely ADORE that she has her birthday on Valentine's Day! We will pack all her stuff up today in the priority boxes and if Greg comes home early, will drop them at the Post Office. He forgot to get additional boxes the last time he was at the postal office, so we have to pick some up. We did not have time to pick up a foam mattress pad for Isabelle, but will do that this weekend. She also desperately needs a bath. She played in the shop this weekend with the guys and got oily/dirty. However, we picked up doggie cookys at Safeway, and we had already stopped at Wendy's for her regular...4 bacon cheeseburgers at 99c each. When we came home last night and unloaded all our purchases, Greg immediately started feeling worse. You could hear it in his throat. He passed out in the recliner with a blanket. This cold is horrible. I woke up with a crick in my neck this morning. Have been looking at everything sideways.

SKWERLS, Sickness, and Milky Mammaries

Well, Beck can't drink beer, the most she can do is milk according to the Chat last night...So I have put a note in my datebook not to invite her to my next Kegger. I must have come in post-milk and mammary discussion. Never have known women to talk about their udders so much! This sick, flu, bronchitis will just NOT go away. After coughing all night long and getting little sleep, I arose at 10am. Wandering around in a dither, finally becoming coherent by noon. Still suffering through fever and sweats. (not the suit kind) Isabelle is literally fit to be tied as she has not had a walk or been out of the house in days! (well, except to pee) I keep explaining that I do not have the energy to do anything with her and promising her great rewards if she is patient just a little while longer...Do I Lie? During the Chat at the Shabby Princess last night, I mentioned the Skwerl episode. I have documented it via scrap page. Considerably cleaner than it could be...I eliminated evidence of blood and guts and carnage... I have one more layout to post, then will "hit the hay"; tho I don't know why because I anticipate no rest. Yeah. Yeah. No rest for the wicked... Well, Hogs & Quiches.

Will This Flu Never Go Away?

Coughing all last night, I did not get any sleep at all. This morning I woke with a fever. It seems like I will never recover my health. Poor Isabelle doesn't understand and is whining pitifully for her mommy. We were unable to take her on her usual weekend walk and she doesn't understand. I have so much to do, and want to push myself to do it; knowing that if I don't rest, I will never feel better. Today, Greg will watch TV and rest in his easy chair. He won't be glued to the Superbowl as he detests watching sports; but he will watch automotive shows. As soon as I am done logging this, I will go to take a nap in bed. Overall, just a boring day spent at home.

Not So Sick

Wow. I feel dazed. Lost a day. Yesterday was spent mostly in bed, slightly comatose with the flu. IM'd my daughter in the morning for a little while; then spent the afternoon in bed. Later last night I felt better. We viewed half of the show..."Grizzly Man" on the Discovery Channel; hopefully we will catch the whole thing when it re-airs. Today our computer guy, Ty...came over to assist while Greg installs Ty's lift kit; I will have pictures scrapped later of the results. And also will have pics on our website. www.rockymtnoffrd.com Ty helped me with a couple things on my computer and also promised to get me an "external hard-drive". Yippee! My main man! Since updating my memory, I am working at the speed of sound. Just too bad that my satellite doesn't work at the same speed. The boys came up to the house and had weiner winks for lunch. Isabelle just loves her weiner winks. Gives me an idea for a scrap page!

Number 1 Son In Law

Really sick today with fever, so I took too many ibuprofen and one of Greg's pain-killers. Then passed out. I think I might have done a scrap page of Matt...which is attached here. It snowed again today-about 3-4 inches. Then the weather turned to rain. The pilot light on the fireplace stove went out and refuses to stay lit. This is the same problem we had with it last year, and replaced the element. Greg has called the stove tech and he is going to come out soon. Greg brought me a gift of suntanning gift certificate and a coffee cup from town...

Eggy Challenge

I am busy working on the Egger Challenge for the thank you notes. There are more than 5 digital scrappers that have influenced me thus far, but I will narrow it down. Will check back later tonight to add my "thank you" card. Feeling a little bit better today. The headache is gone and I don't feel so tired. Still coughing. The electric company techs came out today to evaluate our power 'surging' and found that the meter was not plugged in correctly and making contact; trying to blame it on us. Propane tank was also filled today. Wow. Expensive. I got the Thank You card done. Also did a scrap page of Matt.
